О нас

Welcome to Tanya and Igor’s Kitty Corner! We appreciate your visit and hope that you will find something interesting about our cats. Our cattery specializes in elegant European Burmese cats. Our first Burmese cat, Arlleta was such a blessing after the passing of Jessie, our Doberman, we felt moved to extend that blessing onwards. Till that time Jessie had become elderly and lost the use of his hind paws and was almost blind, we knew that our love and care could not keep him with us forever. It was difficult to imagine our empty homes, but we did not have the time to raise another puppy nor were our hearts ready for another dog so closely after Jessie. That’s when we knew we wanted a cat with a dog’s personality and so we decided to get a Burmese cat which happens to display dog like affection, including their devoted nature towards their owners.

Arlleta was nothing more than a tiny grey fur ball when we brought her from Saint Petersburg. She quickly developed into a confident and curious beauty; exploring the corners of our small flat. Burmese cats are very lively and enjoying leaping. Fortunately, we planned in advanced and purchased a cat tree and a special rug so she could play and scratch on them and not our furniture. Arletta loves to play, she even likes to make up her own games and loves for us and our guest to join in on the fun. You may be surprised to find out that Burmese cats make excellent companions to children with Cerebral Palsy; their gentle yet energetic play helps improve motor and sensory skills. Burmese cats are not afraid of strangers, in fact our neighbours, owners of a giant dog named Terra often invite our little Arletta over for a play date. Burmese cats make ideal show cats because they are well mannered, and have personalities suited for show life.

One of the sweetest things Arletta does is climb on our pillows in the morning and give head massages using her soft paws. It is a common behaviour for this breed to sleep on someone’s head, so you can wake up every morning with a different hair style. However, if you like to keep your head and pillow separate from your cats paws, then show him affection by letting him get under your blanket or cuddle his muzzle against your neck and sing some cat songs.

At first we were afraid training her to use the litter box would be challenging, but our little crumb didn’t have any difficultly . Burmese cats are quick learners; kittens are very observant and imitate the way their mothers eat and use the litter box. At six weeks they begin to eat adult food and clean themselves. We experienced this for ourselves, when Arletta gave birth to her first litter. Like all Burmese cats, Arletta turned out to be a very good mother to her kittens who didn’t cause any trouble.

Now we have two Burmese cats at home. Arletta’s new friend is called Eva. Arletta has been such a blessing to our home, and now with Eva I believe our apartment is not big enough for more cats. We’d like to provide new homes for our kittens to people who are just as loving and enthusiastic about this breed as we are. We love our precious kittens dearly and would like to find them a home and occasionally call to see how everyone is going. We look forward to hearing how much joy they’ve brought to your home. We know how much joy they’ve brought us.
